Matthew Whitfield

Matt Whitfield comes from the high risk, high speed and challenging career of a Royal Navy fighter pilot. Matt has qualified professionally with the International Coaching Federation as an executive and business coach and brings a wealth of experience and passion to benefit the team and clients alike. As a keynote speaker, Matt brings a unique take on the art of leadership, and inspiring and growing all types of teams. Matt Whitfield is excited to be part of the Compass for Life, and brings a wealth of experience and passion to benefit the team and clients alike.

As the Navy’s senior jet flying instructor, Matt has enjoyed training, coaching and mentoring other high potentials, been responsible for maintaining standards across many units and experienced first hand exciting and challenging roles including 6 years of UK counter terrorism operations. On leaving the services, Matt has qualified professionally with the International Coaching Federation as an executive and business coach. He founded his company, 7miles a minute Ltd, which helps equip new and established leaders to think, plan, decide and act under pressure and commit to making the critical decisions that will deliver greater performance. These changes in the choices of behaviour have resulted in a high performance culture and climate in these organisations. As a keynote speaker, Matt brings a unique take on the art of leadership, and inspiring and growing all types of teams. His ongoing work is varied including working with individuals and teams at the Bank of England, speaking at the University College London School of Management and Leadership, and coaching other individual business leaders and schools for a growth mindset.

Kevin Marlow

Completed 22 years exemplary service with the British Army, including 14 years in UK Special Forces. On leaving the Army, Kevin studied agriculture and managed a successful mixed farm in Herefordshire for a few years, but his passion for adventure and skills learnt in the Army, beckoned him towards further challenges. Kevin’s been fortunate enough to have worked all over the world during his career in the Army and commercially as a security professional, including conflict and war zones.

A notable achievement between 2006-8 was to develop a multi million dollar, high level, integrated security program across multiple locations to protect company personnel and assets in the Yemen following a serious terrorist attack. This provided confidence for staff to work again and allowed for production to continue unhindered. Accomplished security professional with extensive experience in the delivery of security services in diverse environments with a reputation for effective team management and strong organisational abilities. Proven leader and manager of people and processes at corporate and operational levels. A logical, self motivated decision maker who works well under stress and strives for continuous growth and improvement in all endeavours. Kevins current North Star is to share the values and experiences he’s gained from working with different companies and cultures globally to enhance and inspire others. An active person with a positive attitude towards life and wellbeing. Kevin is happily married with two grown up children and he’s just become a grandfather. Over 40 years of growth through military and commercial life experiences.

Andrew Sinclair

During the last three decades Andrew has been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to work in many different technology and business disciplines ranging from designing test & measurement facilities, managing telecommunication engineering development teams to leading product definition. Prior to this Andy was in the Army in Signals Intelligence working in challenging situations as part of multi-disciplinary teams.  Andy particularly enjoys helping individuals and teams to identify their purpose and achieve their goals. Andy uses his own experience in small and large organisations, and of making decisions whilst under pressure, to help them find their own clarity and focus for the context in which they work.

Dr Rob Kennett MBE

Dr Rob Kennett served with Kent Police from 1978 in a variety of challenging operational and specialist roles progressing to the rank of Chief Inspector, increasingly specialising in Hostage, Crisis and Kidnap Negotiation. He was seconded to the Hostage and Crisis Negotiation Unit (HCNU), Metropolitan Police, New Scotland Yard, London in 2008 and served as the Unit Deputy Head. He retired from the Police in May 2009. He continues to work as a civilian within Law Enforcement providing Negotiation Training both in the UK and internationally. He was appointed a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2009 for his Services to Policing. He was awarded a Doctorate in Education from Hull University in 2009.

Chantal Dean

Chantal Dean is an Assistant Head Teacher at a rural school in Wiltshire where she has specific responsibility for student development, well-being, careers and transition. She has been involved in the Compass For Life project since it began. In the first year she worked with students developing their leadership skills and used the model as a vehicle for transition for students between KS2 and KS3. She has developed the schemes of work for other teachers and schools to use; both the compass books and now the online learning platform. She has combined her work on developing growth mindset, student leadership and metacognition with coaching others. She is an experienced Navigator and a key trainer in the Compass For Life method.
